The Interior Dialog
The Carl Aubock of Mindful Objet. The Tiffany of Elevated Witch Ware. These are metaphorical comps–and BIG goals–I have rumbled with, the river stones of a rough hewn idea. The Objects is what seemed (and seems still) most right. I learned recently that a very cool and very prolific guy named Alexander Calder preferred to call his work “Objects” instead of “Art” or “Sculpture” so maybe I am hitting the quartz crystal vein in the basalt of this creativity. Surely OBJECTS can bridge the floes of the sometimes-converging, sometimes-mutually-exclusive Design and Art worlds.

Call them what you will, these are what my artist self, my brand, and, also, the me within my name (the person with inmost desires that I wish to come true) wants to do with this other thing called time. I took this leap of faith so many times before… To leave New Mexico at 17. To follow my faery-ish friend to SF in 1993. To New York City with all of my belongings in tow, via Burning Man in 2002. And more recently when I went to Oaxaca for what I thought was a research and dev trip, to read and inspect ideas, that turned out to be an actual rebirth of the artist residency… I didn’t know I would start such a new journey in earnest from that moment. I had made a little something in clay, on a play date with some girlfriends a few months prior, and crushed it because I was honestly scared of making art again. Without putting those words to it, of course, but it was viscerally true. I did not want to go there.
And yet….
There’s a lot more to share about this new trajectory. And I am grateful for the ears (and eyes like yours on this post) that have given me the courage to proceed, albeit with reticence at times. And some caution.
Peep The Objects that have found a place in my current canon, at the store and on the site.
As I seek these out in my days, The Objects make more sense and I honest and truly hope you find them to be inspiring, even just to your eyes and ears.
